In Fresh ocean you play as a courier who has to deliver packages to communities on the water. In these packages are blueprints which you must give to the supervisors of the communities. Then they can build the blueprints and the community grows in green energy. When you deliver the packages, you have to choose what to deliver based on the environment of the islands. There are elements to overcome to deliver the right package to the right person/community.

This game was made by students from the HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht) and the UU (Utrecht University) on behalf of Stockholm Resilience Center to raise awareness about new technologies in the ocean.

My role in this project.

The one thing I wanted to learn in this proejct was how to work with particle effects but also in creating 3D models. But for the most part of this project I made sketches and concept ideas for structures and vehicles.

The most interesting concept I could create was the placing of the UI designs. I could think of what could be handy to use for the player or where buttons can be placed to easily be found.

The structures I had to design were used as bases. Bases where humans could live in the future. In a green future with efficient ways of living. A friendly way of living for the nature surrounding it.

With these concepts I wanted to create a map that made it look that the world was underwater. We, me and the group I worked in, forsaw that the future would be full of water since the sea is rising. And eventually we wanted to create different kinds of evironments. So there is diversity in the lands you pass by in your boat.
